Unifor Members Reject Offer

35 members of Unifor Local 672 remain off the job after the S.G.S. Canada employees turned down a post-strike offer Monday. Union national representative Glenn Sonier says it was overwhelmingly rejected.

Sonier says the union has countered with its own offer and is open to resuming bargaining but no new talks were being arranged. He adds the union has suggested going to binding arbitration if necessary. The replacement of full time employees with part-timers is a key issue in the strike that is into its fourth week. The workers load and off-load ships, trucks and rail cars at Imperial Oil and vessels at Suncor.
