City Building Activity Better In March

Renovations for a new Giant Tiger Store and repairs to the Bayside Mall parking garage bolstered city building permits in March.

36 permits were issued by city hall last month with a construction value of nearly $5-million. The total of $8.6-million for the first quarter of 2015 is still well behind last year's $14.2-million however.

Permits for $500,000 each were issued for expansion joint repairs to the Bayside Mall parking garage and Giant Tiger leasehold renovations on London Rd.

Permits for single family homes rebounded in March after a sluggish start with 12 being issued for a total of 16 year-to-date. There was a total of 21 at this time last year.
