City Suspends Opening Prayer Following Ruling

Mayor Mike Bradley says the city will suspend its practice of opening council meetings with a prayer.

Sarnia's legal department is reviewing a 100 page Supreme Court of Canada ruling that says the municipal council in Saguenay, Quebec can't open its meetings with a prayer.

Ottawa, Belleville and Windsor have already eliminated opening prayers.

Mayor Bradley says Sarnia's existing practice is inclusive of various faiths.
