Annual Music Festival Begins Today

It's been going strong for 86 years!

The Lambton County Music Festival gets underway today.

Volunteer David Nichols says it can be a life changing event for young musicians.

Vocal competitions this week will be held at Dunlop United Church with piano competitions at the Sarnia Library Theatre and St. Giles Presbyterian Church.

Next week, choir competition begins at SCITS and Central United while strings performers will be at St Giles.

High School bands compete at St Patrick's High School next week.

In all, some 430 students have entered.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
