Third Party To Decide SGH Ownership

The city of Sarnia and Bluewater Health have agreed to have a third party resolve the former Sarnia General Hospital ownership issue.

Mayor Mike Bradley says the matter could be determined in two or three months, avoiding a protracted and costly legal battle.

Bradley says the ownership issue has to be decided so long term plans for the future of the Mitton St. property can be made.

Bluewater Health is anxious to resolve the issue because funds that could be going to patient care are being spent maintaining and securing the vacant site.

The mayor says the city, in the spirit of cooperation, is also expressing interest in the former St. Pat's high school property on behalf of the hospital, for parking.
