Local Communities Benefit From Creative County Fund

Lambton County is providing almost $51,000 to support cultural, arts and heritage projects locally.

The Organization for Literacy received $16,000 for a Mosaic Project that will, through art and literary contributions, outline what we love most about where we live, to help celebrate Canada's 150th birthday.

The Brooke-Alvinston Community Group will receive $10,000 to stimulate interest in local heritage and history and establish a museum.

The Oil Springs Arts Festival gets $3,000 to jump start the first time event that will include music, theatre and dance.

In all, ten groups and events receive funding to improve the cultural capacity of Lambton County.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
