Hospital Receives Special Designation

Bluewater Health is celebrating as it has earned the distinction of Best Practice Spotlight Organization by the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario.

The RNAO selects health care and academic organizations to implement and evaluate their best practice guidelines in hopes up creating better communication between health professionals and their patients.

Chief Nursing Executive Barb O'Neil says since the original application in 2012, there has been a change in culture at the hospital that helped them to achieve this status.

The hospital implemented guidelines including establishing therapeutic relationships, prevention of falls, assessment of pain and focusing on client-centred care.

O'Neil says they will need to work to maintain the status, with front line staff leading the way.
