Rail Safety Week

This is Rail Safety Week in Canada.

Constable Randy Patterson with C.N. Police says one objective is to raise awareness about the dangers of trespassing on rail property.

He says they're trying to cut down on the number of fatalities involving railway crossings.

Last year 36 people died while trespassing on rail yards while 21 fatalities were recorded at crossings.

CN Police Officers issue 270 tickets every three months locally, mostly for crossing violations and trespassing.
