Unifor Strike Impacts Hotel

Picket lines went up outside the Holiday Inn in Pt. Edward Tuesday morning as Unifor Local 672 members continue a strike that started in late March.

Union National Representative Glen Sonier says S.G.S. employees targeted the Holiday Inn because that's where replacement workers are staying.

The striking workers load and off-load ships, trucks and rail cars at Imperial Oil and vessels at Suncor.

The 35 have been without a contract since October 24 and Sonier says no new talks are planned.

The replacement of full time employees with part-timers is a key issue and the union say it has suggested binding arbitration if necessary to resolve the dispute.
