Cyclist Faces Charge Of Assaulting An Officer

A 26-year-old Sarnia man is facing a number of charges after a run in with city police early Sunday morning.

Around 1am, Officers with the COPPS unit allegedly stopped him on a bicycle near Forsyth St. and Wellington St. Police say he didn't have a working light on his bike.

When approached, it's alleged the man hit one of the officers with the bike then fled. He was later found under a trailer on Davis St.

He's facing charges of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, trespassing and two counts of breaching his bail. He's being held pending a bail hearing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
