Solar Farm Proposed At LGS Site

In an effort to supplement the power grid, Ontario Power Generation has applied to construct a 30 MW solar farm at its former Lambton Generating Station site in St. Clair Township.

OPG spokesman Neal Kelly says if the application is approved, construction would begin in 2016 and last for about two years.

Kelly doesn't have an exact number of solar panels that would be installed, but similar sized farms use over 100,000.

OPG is holding a community meeting on its plans on June 2 from 3:30pm until 8pm at the Courtright Community Centre.

They've also applied to build similar farms in Nanticoke and Napanee.
