New Walleye Leader At Salmon Derby

Barry Smith of Sarnia is the new Walleye category leader with a 7.74 lb walleye.

The leaders in the other four fish categories remain unchanged:

  • Bob Thorpe of Sarnia in the Salmon category with a 13.86 lb salmon.
  • Errol Burgess of Camlachie in the Trout - Boat category with a 11.03 lb brown trout.
  • Mike Howie of Sarnia in the Trout - Shore category with a 11;30 lb rainbow trout.
  • Tricia Geerts of Sarnia in the Lake Trout category with a 19.80 lb lake trout.
The Daily Big Fish winner is Guy Andali of Point Edward with a 13.96 lb lake trout.

The Daily Draw winner at the Port Franks weigh station is Jeff Cumming of Alvinston.

The Daily Draw winner at the Sarnia weigh station is Randy Smith of Corunna.

There were 50 fish entered at the Sarnia weigh station and 48 fish entered at the Port Franks weigh station for a five-day total of 503 fish.

Wednesday, May 6 is Seniors Day and Anglers aged 65 and up will be competing for a $250 cash prize donated by Feige Denture Clinics.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
