County Approves Code of Conduct

Lambton County Council will be appointing an Integrity Commissioner after approving a Councillor Code of Conduct.

Warden Bev MacDougall says the decision was made to better protect staff and council if when they receive complaints.

She says the integrity commissioner will use the code of conduct to give a fair and open minded view of the public complaint.

MacDougall along with the deputy warden, CAO and clerk will interview potential integrity commissioner candidates and make a recommendation. County council will ultimately make the final decision on the hiring.

The decision comes just weeks after Sarnia city council also moved forward with implementing their own integrity commissioner.
