Lake Huron Nearing 1997 Water Levels

Two years ago, when Lake Huron water levels were at their lowest ever, some suggested a barrier be placed in the St. Clair River between the shoreline and Stag Island.

Now, water levels are 15 in above last year, resulting in dwindling beaches at Bright's Grove and Ipperwash.

The Centre for Coastal Conservation says if we get the same amount of rain as we did last summer, we'll hit water levels similar to those in 1997, when significant erosion occurred.
