Liberal Nomination Meeting Tonight

The federal Liberal candidate for Sarnia-Lambton will be decided during the party's nomination meeting tonight.

Elizabeth Wood-McDonald, or Dave McPhail, one of the two will be your Liberal nominee when we hit the polls for this year's federal election.

McPhail, a life-long Sarnia-Lambton resident is the president of the Ontario Mathematics Teachers Group and successfully chaired the Save the Sarnia Jail Committee.

Wood-McDonald, is a two time Sarnia city councillor and has been a member of both the Federal and Provincial Liberal Riding Associations for 30 years.

Tonight's meeting is at the Best Western in Point Edward with speeches beginning at 7 with voting to follow shortly afterwards

The Liberals were last elected locally in 2004, Tim Fugard finished third in voting as the Liberal representative in 2011.

The federal election is slated for October 19.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
