City Seeking Ownership of Bayside Centre

After almost two and half years in receivership , the city is seeking to take ownership of the downtown Bayside Centre.

Sarnia City Clerk Nancy Wright-Laking says in closed session Monday, council directed staff to ask the courts to deliver possession of the mall to the city.

The financially struggling property went into receivership in December 2012 and Toronto-based A. John Page and Associates Inc. was named the court appointed receiver and manager to improve and then sell the property.

The matter will be discussed in court on June 16.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
