Sarnia City Council approved the use of the city's parkway parking lot for Greekfest August 7, 8 and 9th. For the past nine years the event was held in early September at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church on Murphy Rd.

Event organizers are looking to collaborate and work with organizers of the Sarnia-Port Huron International Power Boat Festival.

Council supported a motion brought forward by Mayor Mike Bradley to ask the provincial government to delay selling off 60 per cent of Hydro One to allow full public hearings on the controversial move.

Sarnia council approved the appointment of former Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce President Garry McDonald to the Bluewater Power Board of Directors.

$700,000 in funding was approved for phase 1 of the LED streetlights conversion project this year. The money will be allocated through both the Capital Revolving Reserve Fund and the Capital Reserve Fund. Annual savings on energy costs will be directed back to reserves.
