Thunderstorms Race Across Sarnia-Lambton

Environment Canada was tracking heavy thunderstorms racing across southwestern Ontario in advance of a cold front Wednesday afternoon. A severe thunderstorm watch issued in the early afternoon was upgraded to a warning. Clusters of storms on a southwest to northeast track moved very quickly across southeastern Michigan into Ontario at 65 km/h. Strong wind gusts of 90 km/h or more, dime to nickel size hail and heavy rain were the main threats. Hydro One crews were dispatched to rectify a couple of outages in north Lambton. One of less than 20 customers at Kettle Pt. and another affecting 55 customers near Grand Bend. The storm threat was expected to end by early evening.

The warning for Sarnia-Lambton ended before 5pm.
