Golf Club Reminds Residents Of Warning System

Residents living near Sarnia Golf and Curling Club heard sirens yesterday afternoon.

Head Pro Jamie Parkinson says they activated their Thor Guard warning system, advising golfers of approaching thunderstorms.

One long, loud sustained siren blast warns golfers to get off the course or move to a safe area, until the all clear is signalled by three short blasts.

Parkinson says the Thor Guard system predicts, rather than detects lightning and is far superior to staff trying to monitor several different weather sites.
