Job Losses At Bluewater Health

Bluewater Health is laying off three employees as they hope recent cuts are enough to balance their budget.

Chief Operating Officer Mike Lapaine says they wont know for sure until they find out their funding. He says they needed to find nearly $6-million in savings, and were able to do so with minimal job loss.

It was estimated 33 jobs would be impacted by the hospital's cuts, but Lapaine says there were just three involuntary job losses

Of the three job losses, Lapaine says two will have the opportunity to rejoin the hospital through maternaty leaves and new openings. He says one has left the company completely.

He says the cuts were widespread throughout the hospital.

At the CEE site in Petrolia, the cafeteria closed in April and patients will soon register via video after hours. Late last year the hospital announce endoscopy services would be consolidated in Sarnia.
