Proposed Vidal St. Methadone Clinic Appealed

The approval of a third methadone clinic in Sarnia is being appealed by a nearby property owner.

Earlier this month, Sarnia council approved the rezoning of 373 Vidal St. S. to establish a medical centre/clinic and pharmacy on site.

Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley says Irene Flory has appealed the ruling based on inappropriate use, insufficient car parking, and poor relationship with other uses.

He says the Ontario Municipal Board will meet with both parties in hopes of reconciling the issue. If that fails, they'll have a hearing which could take six to eight months.

The site is nearly 900m sq. and would dedicate 174m sq. towards medical centre and clinic uses.

36 parking spaces were proposed for the site.
