Sting Add NHL Prospect To Blue Line

The Sarnia Sting welcome Josh Jacobs to the hockey club.

Jacobs spent last season with Michigan State, where he picked up 9 assists through 35 games with the Spartans.

The 6'2", 191 lbs defenceman was a 2nd round pick of the New Jersey Devils in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, and will be one of the older members of the Sting's blue line come next season.

As far as what type of play he'll bring to Sarnia, Jacobs says he uses his skating to make an impact at both ends of the ice.

Jacobs says he's looking forward to joining the guys at camp next season and fitting in with his new team, something General Manager Nick Sinclair doesn't think will be a problem.

Sinclair says Jacobs has the ability to make an impact right away, and will be counted on to play some big minutes on the back end.

The Sting selected the Shelby Township native in the 4th round of the 2012 OHL Priority Selection.

Prior to his time at Michigan State, Jacobs played two seasons with the Indiana Ice of the USHL.
