Update: Worker Injured Following Release At Shell

One Shell employee is in London hospital listed in stable condition with burns, following an incident at the Shell refinery in St. Clair Twp. Saturday afternoon.

Company spokesperson Kristina Zimmer they experienced a light hydrocarbon release around 5:30pm and that Shell's downwind air monitors showed no elevated levels of hydrocarbons.

Ministry of Labour spokesperson William Lin says they were notified of a work place incident at 6:58pm.

Lin says the worker's injuries are not critical, and the investigation is ongoing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
