Distracted Driving Blitz

Sarnia Police Service will be stepping up enforcement against distracted drivers Tuesday and Wednesday.

Constable John Sottosanti says using a hand-held device while behind the wheel can, and very often does, have fatal consequences.

He admits it can be difficult to enforce. [audio mp3="http://blackburnnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Distracted-driving-2.mp3"][/audio] Statistics now show that distracted driving, such as talking on your cell phone, has surpassed drunk driving as the number one cause in collisions and roadway fatalities.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
