NDP Wants Vote On Hydro One Sale

Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is fighting back against the Liberal government's plan to sell off a portion of the publicly owned Hydro One utility.

Horwath has introduced a private member's bill in the legislature that would require input from Ontario voters before such a move is made.

She says Sarnia industries are growing increasingly concerned about the rising cost of power in Ontario as are others in the province that have already packed up and moved elsewhere.

Horwath says the partial sale of Hydro One would result in the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars in stable revenues that fund things like education, healthcare and infrastructure.

Her bill will be debated in the legislature Thursday June 4.
