Solar Farm Public Meeting Today

A community public meeting will be held Tuesday to update the public on Ontario Power Generation's proposed 30MW solar facility at the former Lambton Generating station near Courtright.

The exact number of solar panels to be installed on two locations totalling 175 acres isn't known at this time.

Similar sized farms use over 100,000 of the energy generators.

OPG says if all the pieces fall in place, the farm would be operational in 2018 or 2019 for a 20-year period.

Some St. Clair Township officials have expressed concern that if the project proceeds, no other uses for the LGS site could be found.

Today's meeting at the Courtright community centre runs from 3:30pm to 8pm.
