Residents voiced their concerns about Ontario Power Generation's proposed 30MW solar facility at the former Lambton Generating Station site.
A public meeting took place in Courtright Tuesday afternoon as part of OPG's Renewable Energy Approval process that must hear from aboriginal, municipal, public and review agency consultations.
Nearby resident Diana Colborne is concerned about St. Clair River tourism being affected.
"I'm assured that it isn't going to have ugly docks built and if they can assure me that the trucks will be going around the back way instead of up and down the poor little river road, that should remain as a tourist point," she says.
Colborne says she will support this project if the health of her family isn't affected.
"Oil and gas is going to run it's course pretty soon here too because people are getting more into natural and environmental concerns," she says.
Other concerns brought forth by the public included areas within site use, traffic, tourism and visual aspects.
OPG Senior Communications Advisor Susan Thurston says they provided signage information on the project and addressed public questions or concerns.
"We're in the early stages of the project and we're just here to learn more about what comments or issues that they may have," says Thurston.
She stressed it's still early in the bidding process and they're waiting to hear on successful projects by the end of the year.
If the bid is successful, construction would begin 2016. The proposed site would operate for a 20-year period beginning in 2018.
