Elder Abuse Awareness Day

A special tree planting ceremony is being held at Aamjiwnaang today in recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Sarnia-Lambton Elder Abuse Awareness Network Chair Christy Palmer says elder abuse takes many forms including physical, emotional, sexual, and financial.

Palmer says Lambton Elderly Outreach provided service to abused 33 seniors in 2014 and Sarnia Police responded to 15 elder abuse calls.

Today's ceremony is set for 12pm at the Aamjiwnaang First Nation Community Centre.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
