UPDATE: Investigation Continues Into Pond Eruptions

The municipality of Lambton Shores says a localized emergency remains in effect as the investigation continues into this week's geyser-like eruptions in a golf course pond.

The emergency was declared late Wednesday afternoon for Indian Hills Golf Course and the surrounding subdivision.

The Municipal Emergency Control Group has met to discuss progress in resolving the situation.

A news release Friday afternoon says naturally occurring gases continue to be released from the ground but at a reduced level. An investigation is ongoing to understand the subsurface conditions in the area of concern.

The municipality says there is no risk to the public outside of the immediate site.

The golf course remains closed until further notice.

The public is advised to call 2-1-1 for any updates on the situation.
