Oil Shipping Delayed

There has been another delay in the shipping of western oil to Montreal through Enbridge's reversed Line 9 pipeline which runs though Sarnia.

Company spokesman Ken Hall says they have completed a National Energy Board stipulation to install shut-off valves on the line near some major waterways.

He says they've now been granted a leave to open, but first must conduct limited hydro-static testing on three different sections of the pipeline east of Toronto.

That involves pumping water into the segments, one as long as 20km, for an integrity test.

Hall says the timing of that process is unknown, so the opening of the line, that had been scheduled for this month, has been set back again.

No timetable for its opening is known.
