Carruthers Foundation Comes to an End

The Carruthers Foundation is ending its operation after six decades.

Forming in 1953, the foundation has contributed $1-million towards providing bursaries and scholarships for students pursuing an education in health care.

President Larry Scully says they have roughly $340,000 still left to be dispersed, with the goal of wrapping up May 2016.

The foundation donated $120,000 towards Lambton College's Centre for Health Education and Sustainable Care.

The founders, Cal and Walter Carruthers, opened the Carruthers medical clinic in 1933. 20 years later they joined to help form the foundation.
