Local Strike Drags On

Friday marks the 3-month mark in a strike by 35 members of Unifor Local 672.

The contract workers are responsible for loading and un-loading ships, trucks and rail cars at Sarnia's Imperial Oil Refinery, and vessels only at Suncor.

Union National Rep. Glen Sonier says S.G.S. Canada wants to replace seasoned employees with part-timers who have little experience, especially as first-responders in emergency situations.
