Riverfront Railing to be Removed

The Lambton Area Water Supply System has decided to remove an ankle-high railing in front of the water treatment plant at the mouth of the St. Clair River. The railing separates the sidewalk from armour stone along the shoreline and helps to prevent winter snow-plows from toppling in the lake. Board member and Point Edward Mayor Larry MacKenzie says there was a public outcry over safety concerns. There's no cost estimate to remove the railing which was about $30,000 to install.
