Calorie Counts

Lambton Public Health is pleased the Ontario government is taking steps to help curb obesity.

The Making Healthier Choices Act makes it mandatory for restaurants and convenience stores with over 20 locations to post calorie counts and contextual information, and appoints inspectors to enforce the requirements.

Registered Dietician Connie Mallette says it's a good start but notes more needs to be done including eduating children at a young age.

Mallette says the calorie counts are especially important as more and more people are eating out due to busy schedules.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
