Expressions Of Interest For Bayside Mall

The city of Sarnia says more than one letter of interest was received by the court-appointed receiver for Bayside Mall by Thursday's deadline. A. John Page & Associates listed the mall building, not including the land, for $1.5-million with a July 9 deadline. The city says the receiver has not revealed the exact number of expressions of interest or any other information. City Manager Margaret Misek-Evans says the city will postpone a court motion to obtain possession of the building so the receiver can determine whether or not there is a viable purchaser. The Toronto-based receiver has failed in previous attempts to sell the downtown property. The 245,000 sq ft building was once listed for as high as $6.5-million.

Two separate offers this spring for the city-owned land and building together were vetoed by both city and county councils. The value of the offers have not been made public.

Veto rights have since expired.
