Storm Costs Bluewater Power Thousands

Damage from Saturday's storm looked a lot worse than it was according to Bluewater Power.

President and CEO Janice McMichael Dennis says the short powerful storm cost the utility just over $50,000.

Heavy downpours and strong winds knocked out power for several hours to over 10,000 customers in Sarnia and Point Edward around 2:30pm Saturday.

Sarnia's south-end was hit particularly hard.

McMichael Dennis says no poles or transformers needed to be replaced, unlike during superstorm Sandy in 2012, when damage cost Bluewater Power over $400,000.
