New Energy Strategy Supports Local Proposed Oil Refinery

Proponents say it's a positive step for a proposed $10-billion oil refinery in Sarnia Lambton.

Premiers of 10 provinces and three territories have established the Canada Energy Strategy, a set of goals that lays the groundwork for the future of Canadian energy production and distribution.

Bowman Centre associate Walter Petryschuk says it's a step in the right direction and what is needed now is something concrete from the province of Ontario, indicating it supports hydrocarbons as a component of a future energy program.

Issuing such a policy statement could result in provincial funding, something that is not currently in the Wynne government's Green Energy Policy.
