The province has followed the federal government's lead in providing over $22-million for major wastewater plant upgrades in Sarnia and Petrolia.
The Wynne government is matching Ottawa's one-third funding commitment under the Canada-Ontario Small Communities Fund.
The city gets just over $15-million for its $45-million Sarnia Sewer Upgrade Project that includes new Green St. and Bedford pumping stations and upgrades to the Bright's Grove Wastewater Treatment facility and Sarnia's Water Pollution Control Centre.
The province is also matching the federal government's funding of $7.1-million for Petrolia's $21.3-million upgrade and expansion of its Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Sarnia-Lambton Conservative MPP Bob Bailey is pleased his riding is being recognized by the province.

The municipalities are responsible for the remaining one-third funding for the projects.
Mayors Mike Bradley and John McCharles have said the upgrades are vital to future development and protection of the environment.
Sarnia's project is tentatively slated to begin in the spring of 2016 and be complete in 2019.
It's hoped work in Petrolia will begin this fall and be complete in 2017.
