Second Sunday Tornado Confirmed

Environment Canada has now confirmed a second tornado caused damage in the Orangeville area in Sunday's severe thunderstorms.

An EF-1 tornado with winds of 135 km/h to 175 km/h touched down in the small community of Marsville.

The national weather agency says damage included snapped trees, an overturned feed barn and some light damage to barns and a house.

The tornado, and the EF-2 that caused signficant damage in Teviotdale, are the third and fourth tornadoes in Ontario so far this season. On average, there are 12 confirmed tornadoes in the province each year.

Environment Canada sent another team to investigate damage north of Ajax.

There was no tornado but straight line winds knocked down several trees, two large metal sheds and an airplane hangar, causing damage to planes.
