Rally Sunday To Protect The Great Lakes

A peaceful protest will be held Sunday in opposition of Ontario Power Generation's proposed nuclear waste dump on the Lake Huron shore.

OPG wants to bury hundreds of thousands of cubic metres of low and intermediate level nuclear waste 680 m underground at a site near Kincardine about 1 km from the lake.

Rally Co-founder Jeremy Whitmore says almost 800 people have RSVP'd to the event on Facebook.

Various speakers and live musical entertainment will be at the event from 1pm-4pm at Pine Grove Park in Port Huron.

Whitmore advises bringing a lunch, folding chair or blanket, and water in a reusable container.
