SIU Investigating Arrest In Grand Bend

Ontario's police watchdog is now investigating after a man was injured during a public intoxication arrest in Grand Bend.

The Ontario Provincial Police says on Sunday around 12:45am, officers were called Gables Bar to deal with an unruly patron.  A man, who had been kicked out of the bar, was arrested outside and taken into custody.

Alexander Silcock, 21, of Newmarket has been charged with public intoxication. However, upon his release complained of a sore wrist, and was taken to hospital by ambulance to be treated.

The province's Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate and will be investigation this incident.

The SIU conducts criminal investigations into circumstances involving police that have resulted in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
