UPDATE: Spike in Weekend Break and Enters

Sarnia Police Services investigated ten break and enters and 17 thefts over the weekend.

They occured between 5pm Friday and 7am Monday. Constable John Sottosanti says there is no explanation for the spike in incidents. [audio mp3="http://blackburnnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Sottosanti-2.mp3"][/audio] Early Saturday morning after 2am, officers received a report of a stolen Jeep involved in a collision in the area of Trudeau Drive. As well, around 3am the same morning, a 34-year old male was arrested while breaking into a garage in the 100 block of Lincoln Park Ave. Residents are reminded to report any suspicious activity to Sarnia Police Services or Crime Stoppers.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
