Public Meeting For Proposed LGS Solar Farm

A public community meeting is being held Thursday evening to discuss Ontario Power Generation's proposed solar electricity facility on the former Lambton Generating Station property.

It gets underway from 4pm-6:30pm at the Courtright Community Centre.

OPG wants to build up to a 30-MW solar farm on a 50-acre area encompassing the former coal pile and a parcel of land at the north end of the property.

The company is currently in the process of applying for a contract to Ontario's Independent Electricity System Operator by September 1.

St. Clair Township Mayor Steve Arnold has expressed disappointment in the proposal, saying it could limit future access to the station's loading dock, which could in turn hinder any further development of the site.
