With September now upon us, there are initial indications that the winter of 2015-16 will not be as brutally cold as last year. This past February was the coldest month ever in Sarnia-Lambton with an average temperature of -12 C (10 F), eight degrees below normal. Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson says there are indications of a strengthening El Nino with warmer than normal waters in the Pacific Ocean. It hasn't been a hot summer but Coulson says it will remain unseasonably warm through the upcoming Labour Day weekend and perhaps well into the first part of September.
