Police, via Twitter, said they would like to inform the public that 43-year-old Jayson Johnson had returned home and is in good condition.
Police issued a community alert before 4am Saturday that Johnson had been missing since 10:30pm Friday and needed to be located to check on his well being.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
