Celebrating Sarnia's Labour Community

The annual Labour Day Parade is back for its 114th installment Monday. Parade Marshall Henry Jakubowski says the tradition, that's older than the city itself, celebrates Sarnia as a labour community. [audio mp3="http://blackburnnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Labour-day-parade-1.mp3"][/audio] The parade starts at 9:30 at the corner of Front and Wellington St. before heading down Front St to Centennial Park. Trophies will be handed out for best union float, best representation, best commercial and no commercial entry.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
