Accessibility Award Nominations Double

Nominations for the 2015 Accessibility Awards in Sarnia have more than doubled. 23 nominations were received for the awards which recognize local businesses and individuals who go above and beyond for those with disabilities.

Accessibility Coordinator Dale Mosley says a committee will now decided who will receive the six different awards, including promoting an inclusive environment and taking steps to provide ideal accessibility.

The awards will be handed out during Sarnia City Councils meeting on October 5. Past recipients include The Imperial Theatre, Bluewater Cheer and St.Clair Auto Repair.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
