Preds Nip Legionnaires In Battle Of Lambton

The Sarnia Legionnaires lost their home opener 3-2 to the Lambton Shores Predators in GOJHL hockey action Thursday night.

Colin Burns and Ethan Sarfati scored first period goals for the Preds. Brett Storr scored his first as a Legionnaire to make it 2-1 after the opening frame.

Andrew Kim netted the eventual winner late in the game for Lambton Shores. Sarnia Sting draft pick Jacob Stos made it a 3-2 final with his goalie pulled.

Legionnaires Head Coach Mark Davis says his team recovered after a shaky first period.

Legionnaires goalie Shane Battler made 18 saves on 21 shots against while Anthony Hurtubise made 36 saves in the Preds net.

Sarnia defenceman PJ Vandervaart was given a five minute major and a game misconduct for a hit from behind late in the first period.

Next up, the Legionnaires host St. Thomas next Thursday. The Predators host Strathroy in their home opener Saturday night.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
