Man Arrested In Tool Theft

A 40-year-old Sarnia man is in police custody following the theft of tools from a pickup truck parked at a business in the 900 block of Murphy Rd.

Video surveillance from September 1 shows a man unloading tools from the back of the truck and putting them into a Ford Edge.

Acting on a tip from the public, police arrested a suspect Saturday morning and recovered the stolen items including the Ford Edge.

The Edge was reported stolen from the YMCA parking lot August 24.

The plates on the vehicle were reported stolen from a Sandy Lane parking lot September 2.

Jose Manuel Demelo is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and breach of probation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
