Sarnia Community Foundation Gives

Seventeen local organizations are benefiting from grants given out by the Sarnia Community Foundation.

In all, the agency dolled out nearly $132,000 to organizations in the arts, environment, social services, and education fields.

Executive Director Jane Anema is thrilled to be able to help out.

As part of the funding, the Town of Petrolia Fire Hall Fund received $21,000.  St. Clair Child and Youth was given $8,000 and just over $7,000 went to Habitat for Humanity.

Since 1983, the foundation has given out over $3-million to organizations across Sarnia-Lambton.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
